Read About My Journey

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my blog!! I’ve been in the Dominican Republic now for over 6 weeks and its been the best time ever! And I want to share with you guys what we’ve been doing the past two weeks.

October 17th-23rd

This week we helped at a ministry called Love Restored, here in Jarabacoa. Love Restored is a ministry base that helps woman recover from trafficking. Here my team and I sanded a whole church and then primed it afterwards throughout the whole week.

Here you see me and Doug priming the wall. A lot of the time we would climb up the scaffold to get the high places and the ceilings.

Before we primed the whole building, we wrote Bible verses all over it.

Here is me, Emily and Avrie after painting <3

My whole team plus Darlin, our favorite translator and minus Jocelyn because she was working with the med clinic.

A day after ministry as you can probably tell by all the paint on my arms.

Me and a little kitty and the ministry. So CUTIE!!!

Here I am tanning for 2 minutes on the roof (then seconds later Doug throws a paint brush at me)

Here’s Avrie 30 ft up painting the celling!!

Some more pictures from the week that I love (this is Emily and I during Sabbath)

This beautiful view I get to see everyday

Jocelyn and I when it was pouring rain

We successfully finished priming the whole building inside and outside in 3 days! Sadly there are no pictures, but you get the picture.

My favorite part of this week was getting everyone messy with paint and having paint wars (I successfully got my painted handprint of everyone except for Jocelyn) And I also loved the manual work and physically getting to see the hard work we put into the building and working with everyone in my squad. I also loved working with Love Restored, it’s a family of 6 from Ohio that moved to the D.R. and they are the sweetest people ever and reminded me of my mom and dad 🙂

October 22nd-28th

This most recent past week we got the opportunity to bless Mission of Hope (the ministry that we have been staying at for the past 6 weeks). We got to build bunk beds, the other team machete tall grass, and we are in the process of making a fence!! and we sanded down tables to get repainted.

The first day we made built bunk beds from IKEA and let me tell you it was a lot harder than it looks. It took us a team of 6 to do 2 bunk beds in the span of 7 hours. But we did it!! And now they are successfully made! And it was fun listening to hype music trying to figure it out.

Our transportation up the hill to get to our diy fence

We would get some air going up and down the hill in this tiny white truck

This is me sledge hammering cement (it was pretty fun)

Our fence progress – I got to learn how to use a saw and it was so much fun

Transportation down the hill with Darlin driving the four wheeler and fitting all four of us

This is Darlin, me, Maura and Avrie

A picture of me, Jocelyn and Emily after sanding tables. Maura, Avrie and Darlin were also helping!

We got a break from building the fence because it was raining that day.

ANIMAL SECTION!!!

We met these tiny little puppies we met in a neighborhood

This is Grace holding the cutest little puppy in the neighborhood with this little girl!

Lastly we met these 1 day old dogs and got to hold them and snuggle them.

A cute picture of Grace and I in our room!

A picture of Lexy and I (my leader of ABC!)

The prettiest sight we get to see everyday, this pretty mountain

Fun picture with the group after the week of building the fence!! Looks really good in my personal opinion. (I don’t know why it’s blurry) But that’s all of us minus Grace, Lexy and Avrie

My favorite part of this past week was working with everyone and getting to do so many things I’ve never done before. And being able to serve Mission of Hope because they’ve been the greatest ministry host to us these past weeks. I also loved all the tiny puppies and its making me miss Daisy.

How I’ve seen God in these past two weeks:

  • Through all of His beautiful creation
  • Through Psalms and the comfort of knowing that He is always with me
  • I’ve been a little homesick, but knowing that God is faithful and I get to reconnect with my family in a little over 2 weeks
  • Through worship
  • The joy in others!!!

Things you can be praying for:

  • My health (recovering from a cold) and the health of my team
  • Safety
  • For me to be present and in the moment for the last two weeks
  • Growing closer to the Lord

Thanks for reading my blog!! Sorry that it took me 6 weeks to sit down and write one. Hope you enjoyed seeing all the pictures and hearing more about what we have been doing. Thank you for all the prayers. I look forward to writing more about past weeks! Feel free to ask any questions. Love you all <3

Kaitlyn Beyer

Hi I am Kaitlyn! This fall I will be going on a missions trip with World Race to the Dominican Republic! I will be leaving September 2nd for training camp in Georgia. And then heading to the D.R. with my team September 12th until November 18th. During these missions my focus is to evangelize to those living in Santiago. My team and I will be working with kids in a vacation bible school type and a classroom setting. We will also be working with women and families and doing house visit type of ministry. And we will evangelize and help support through the local churches as well. I am so excited for what God has in store for me over these next few months! And I can not wait to share it with you all:)
